United States Citizenship Attestation Form is required per Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 4-108 through 4-114 for a New or Renewing Nebraska Notary

Legislative Bill 403 became effective in Nebraska, October 1, 2009. The law requires every state agency in Nebraska to verify the lawful presence of individuals receiving “public benefits” from a Nebraska state agency. Included in the definition of “public benefits” is a professional license (i.e. notary). All individual applicants seeking registration or licensing will be required to complete and submit the United States Citizenship Attestation Form to the Notary Department. 

Therefore, in order for us to complete your notary application, please mail with your new/or renewing application to Notary Division, P.O. Box  95104, Lincoln, NE 68509.

New Legislation:

LB382 was approved by the Governor on May 16, 2007. LB 382 provides that all notaries commissioned after August 31, 2007 must use an ink stamp seal engraved with the following:

  • State of Nebraska
  • General Notary or General Notarial
  • His or her name as commissioned
  • The expiration date of the commission

Current notaries must comply with LB382 upon renewal of their commission
